There are boats for hire on the River Shannon, Ireland’s longest river, for periods of one day or more in total control of your own trip. It’s a wonderful way to travel, while enjoying the cruise. You can do some fishing, cyclings along the banks, or just have a drink while steering your own way at your own pace. You can stop off in towns or villages of your choice, dock for lunch or the night, where you can stop at a pub to enjoy a meal or a few drinks, or perhaps some live music–or simply buy and cook your own food on board. 

Return to your boat for a night’s sleep before returning back to base, or continue your adventure for another day on the river. People you’ll meet will be from all over the world. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and unique to river boaters with everybody full of advice and willing to help out.   Good weather really makes a difference here, so really shouldn’t be  booked in advance.
